THE STORY
Purchased in 2020, Copper Hill Troutfitters continues to grow and has quickly become one of Southwest Virginia’s premier trout fisheries. Owner/Founder Jason Reger, with his B.S. Degree in Wildlife & Fisheries Science from the University of Tennessee, has taken his passion for the outdoors and turned Copper Hill lake into a thriving trout fishery that not only benefits the environment, but also the enjoyment of anglers off all ages, near and far.
THE LAKE
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Floyd County Virginia is our 4 acre lake stocked with trophy trout. From October-May we focus on trout because they are a cold water/weather species that are plentiful and some are massive. During the summer months, other types of fishing can be enjoyed.
Trout is the common name given to several different species of cold water fish in the family Salmonidae. Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and the occasional brown trout (Salmo trutta) are stocked from late September through late April to early May. Largemouth bass, blue gill, black crappie and a few other species are plentiful and can be sought after during the warmer weather months of May through October.

THE BARN
“The Barn”, an original structure on the property, retains its rustic charm on the outside, but is in the process of being reimagined on the inside to provide bait, tackle, food, drinks and other merchandise to anglers and their guests. Once completed, there will be no need to worry about traveling far and wide for food and drink or replacing lost bait, hooks, line or other tackle!
